Welcome!

My name is Dr. Shelly Harrell and I am a psychologist with over 30 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and groups to heal, transform, and express their highest and best potential.  I am committed to working collaboratively with my clients toward their goals.  I meet you where you are and we go from there.  I work from a strengths-based perspective with a focus on harmony of body, mind, heart, and soul; and with an overarching goal of liberation (mentally, emotionally, somatically, relationally, collectively, and spiritually). All of my services are grounded in a multicultural meta-theoretical framework which holds that a person's well-being is connected to the cultural and sociopolitical contexts within which they live.  Both personal and collective resilience must be nurtured for optimal health, and wellness.

My Services

Psychotherapy Practice

AVAILABILITY UPDATE:  My practice is currently full and I am not able to accept new clients. My approach to psychotherapy is informed by an integrative, culturally-centered approach that is grounded in a humanistic orientation and principles of evidence-based practice. Contemplative, experiential, relational, empowerment, and liberation strategies are central to my work. My approach is strongly influenced by mindfulness and acceptance-based therapies.  I offer psychotherapy services to individual adults and couples. Please note that I have a small practice with limited availability.

Consultation and Coaching

I offer consultation to individuals, groups, and organizations on a range of topics related to culture, racism, mental health, wellness, and relationships. Services include workshops, retreat facilitation, speaking engagements, program development, and more. I offer individual consultation to psychotherapists, health and wellness professionals, researchers, educators, and leaders of both large and small organizations,

The Soulfulness Center

This is the central site for offerings based on my "soulfulness" approach to wellness and resilience.  I offer classes and a variety of resources related to meditation and other contemplative and wisdom-related practices. Soulfulness is about cultivating inner aliveness in the service of our embodied, emotional, mental, relational, spiritual, cultural, and collective liberation. Soulfulness practices are influenced by healing, wisdom, and cultural expressions from across the African diaspora.
